Eierlikör kreppel

It's Fasching season. The stores are crammed full of costumes and the bakeries are whipping up seasonal kreppels including this delicious Eierlikör (eggnog) variety. The filling was vanilla custard with just a hint of rum. The icing also had a hint of rum, but no nutmeg in the entire doughnut. Gianna got a bag of 5 mini schokolade doughnuts (background), but only ate one. Other special varieties include erdbeer-champagner, marmalade & champagne, tiramisu, blood orange, and the list goes on. Despite feeling quite ill, I'm going out this morning in search of more fried carbohydrate decadence!

  2. We walk a lot! Every day involves walking to pick Gianna up from school, getting groceries and lugging them home, running other errands, climbing up and down the flights of stairs to our apartment, walking the dog. Oy, my dogs are hurting just thinking about it! Just did a calorie calculator that estimated the energy burned walking to pick up Gianna from school is equal to that of a Dunkin Donuts Boston Cream donut. Also, we don't eat out terribly often and our at-home meals tend to be light. Except for tonight; Dan has requested currywurst and fries.

Now I have to walk to go pick up Gianna. Just ate a mohnschnecken (poppy seed roll) to offset all the exercise ;-)
