Wednesday: overturned ankle while participating in the extreme sport of doing laundry. Pain excruciating when walking.Thursday: pain still excrutiating, foot red and swollen, call sports medicine specialist and get an appointment for next morning.
Friday: 8:15AM, sports medicine doctor/rheumatologist does exam, ultrasound, x-ray all in his office and goes over the results. Makes MRI appointment for Monday, follow-up visit for Tuesday, tapes up the foot and ankle. Back on the bus by 9AM.
And what is so bad about socialized medicine? In the States, the doctor would have told me to go home and ice it for a week, see if it gets better on its own. Then come back for an x-ray, wait 1 week for the results, then schedule the MRI, wait 1 month for pre-approval from the insurance company, wait another 3 weeks for MRI appointment. By that time the foot is either better or has fallen off. They don't mess around in Germany. I like their no-nonsense approach to medicine.
Feel better soon! And I loved that comment about your other kid, Dan! ;}
ReplyDeleteWow all that in 45 minutes! Usually it takes that long just to check in at a doctors office. Did they say what they think you did? No more hazardous laundry for you!
ReplyDeleteBetter get G to do it. Morgan likes throwing stuff in the dryer. Can't day how much mess I'd have if she put the soap in the washer. Hope your up and around soon.
You have to stay away from those extreme sports ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain... hurting an ankle really sucks! =( Hope you heal well soon!
